Through the act of walking, neo-futurists explore the primal bodily experience’s role in unfolding new relationships in and with urban environments. They employ context-sensitive speculative scenarios to live in constant preparations for the inescapable urban futures. The project was initiated at the end of 2020 by Aušra Česnauskytė together with Goda Verikaitė. It started within the Experiments platform organised by the Architecture Fund of Lithuania. The first set of Neo-futuristic Walks landed in Vilnius and London, where an interdisciplinary community of students and other creatives were gathered for four months of city inspections. A series of online/offline workshops enabled a dialogue between the two contexts and kicked off the creative exchange. In June 2021, the project as a performative tour was presented at the London Festival of Architecture 2021. In August 2021, a parallel event took place in Vilnius. In 2022 Neo-futuristic Walks evolved into a series of walkshops (city walks - workshops) which travels from city to city. In this format, Neo-futuristic Walks have already taken place in Utrecht (NL), and Kaunas (LT) and soon will go to Brussels (BE). generate extreme levels of automation, leaving us with more time for a slower being. How will we connect to our surroundings? As standardised, sterile urban structures meant to serve fast lifestyles are spreading throughout today’s cities, there is no space for humans to express their nature. How to intervene in this mutation of our public spaces and “unalienate” our cities? #helloeveryone highlights the role of chaos within cities and explores its potential to shape new orders - jobs. The project initiates the change of public spaces by introducing Hello Everyone workers into the streets. Their unique uniforms and unusual behaviours “dress” the city and unfold new connections between human &amp; nonhuman surroundings. "My new workspace" is a humorous and playful criticism of the capitalistic worldview where a successful world inhabitant is described as an efficient, professional worker. It serves (and questions) this image by presenting the tools to silence the basic human body's needs, so the worker keeps working. Through the performative new workspace simulation, this project invites us to re-think our work routines and look for ways to maintain the connection to ourselves and our physical surroundings. The project resulted in a satiric manifesto, a series of speculative reality pictures, and a set of headpieces designed to ensure the "strong worker" stays focused. While researching the site, I could identify a high chance of getting trapped in order. The surroundings felt extremely organised, and I was curious to research how it shapes human behaviour. I designed the new artist in residence space where this order reaches an extreme level and questions the relationship between chaos and order.
